Our Values

Authenticity & Integrity

We brew authentic, traditional beer with intent, passion, and soul. And when we ask you to support local beer - we mean local. We aren't 'craftwashing' ~ we brew wholesome, natural, delicious beer made from ingredients that come from other small, independent, local and regional producers. True craft beer can only come from craft ingredients.

Support Local Supply Chains for the positive Social, Economic, and Environmental impacts

Lantern was the first Craft Malt Certified Brewery in the state of Washington.

We work to maintain the integrity of our beer by using craft malts and other local ingredients whose value is returned most directly back to the people and communities in which they were grown and processed. We emphasize local ingredients for our beer not only because of that direct social and economic impact, and the reduced ecological impact of using locally grown and sourced ingredients, but also because local ingredients are the way in which we develop truly local character, local flavors, and an authentic sense of place for our beer.

Respect for Others & ensure a Safe Night Out

We strive to provide a respectful environment for everyone to enjoy our beer in our tasting room. To that end, Lantern is part of the Safe Bar Network and the Seattle Safe Spaces Program. Our staff and management participated in the Safe Bar training in Spring 2022. In this training, our staff learned important bystander intervention skills, how to notice concerning behaviors and how we can continue to have conversations to maintain a workplace culture focused on taking action to increase safety and give everyone a safe night out. We are committed to this ongoing work to keep Lantern a safe space for all.

Dedicated to an Inclusive and harassment-free environment

We believe independently brewed craft beer like ours deserves to be shared with everyone, and everyone should feel welcome in our tasting room. We encourage people from all backgrounds and orientations to apply for positions at Lantern and actively work to make our space and our beer approachable for everyone.

We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying, inappropriate power dynamics or retaliations based on race, color, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, medical condition, age, religion or any other classification protected by law. We will not tolerate harassment of employees, customers, or vendors in any form including but not limited to:

  • Verbal, physical, or written abuse or assault

  • Bullying, intimidation, or victimization

  • Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion.

  • Gratuitous or off-topic sexual comments and/or unwelcome sexual attention

  • Physical contact and simulated physical contact without consent or after a request to stop

Lantern Brewing will also not participate in beer festivals or community events that do not actively prevent this type of discrimination at their venues.

Lantern brewing is committed to maintaining a culture at our small, family brewery that adheres to these values.

We welcome conversations from staff, customers and our partners on how we can all work together to create safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone in the craft beer industry. For our staff, we have open door workplace policies that allow for ongoing input and Anti-Retaliation policies in place. Feel free to chat with us anytime in person or reach out to info@lanternbrewing.com to initiate a conversation.
