2022 WA Pint Days - Washington Brewers Guild

As of 12/7/2022 We still have glasses (got lots of extras this year!!!)

Limited edition glasses available at participating breweries!

Starting December 1st breweries across the state will celebrate Washington Pint Days. All you have to do is go drink beer and bring home a cool new pint glass or two, or more. The glasses are exclusively available at participating breweries and once the glasses are gone, they’re gone.

This custom glassware is the 16 oz. Libbey Willi Becher pint featuring “Celebrate WA Beer” themed graphics created by Blindtiger Design, a local creative, strategy, and marketing agency specializing in the unique needs of the craft beverage industry.

The goals of WA Pint Days are to encourage beer enthusiasts to get out and visit Washington craft brewery taprooms, and raise money to support our Guild.

In partnership with WA Brewers Guild member breweries and Grandstand, $1 from every glass will be donated to the WBG. WA Brewers Guild, is a grassroots organization that fosters a sense of community among the state’s breweries and also does the increasingly critical work of representing the brewing industry’s interest in Olympia.

Winter Solstice Vertical tasting

Celebrate the Winter Solstice at Lantern with special beer choices reflecting the culmination of darkness and a slow return to lighter days.

To represent the darker side of this season, we'll offer a vertical tasting of 5 years of our dark and complex Abbey style Quadrupel: Sombre 2015-2018 and our newly-released Sombre 2019, aged in oak wine and spirits barrels. We'll also have a set of light favorites to help guide us back toward the lighter days and provide some balance.

  • Special tasting flights offered and regular (half) pours available as well. Due to very limited quantities, growler fills will not be available on the Sombres.

  • Saturday 2-10pm Food Truck @ 4pm: Smokestack Lightning BBQ

  • Sunday 2-8pm: Serving Kaffeeklatsch German style pretzels (with special Lantern beer cheese sauce available)

This will be a special and memorable night of tasting extraordinary beer, offered only once a year. Please join us if you're able; please also note that these specials are heavyweight choices, so as always ensure you've got a DD/Lyft/Uber/walk home plan.

Equinox Celebration!

2019 Equinox Celebration and launch of Hop Hoy! Ekuanot

Balance lightness with darkness: special 2019 equinox tap list plus Ekuanot Fresh Hop demo!

Demo: 4:30-5:30pm

We will mark the approach of the 2019 Autumnal Equinox on Friday 20th September with a pair of events: the creation of Hop Hoy! Ekuanot and a tasting menu balancing our most delicious light ales (including 2018 Étoile Verte fresh hop saison) with a special selection of the darkest (including Sombre 2015…)

The second wave of this year's Hop Hoy! barrel fleet will be laden with freshly harvested Ekuanot hops, gathered that morning from the Yakima Valley ranch where they were grown and delivered promptly back to Lantern for maximum freshness and impact.

We'll have a smattering of fresh hop varieties to sample and sense, and will have a live demo and Q&A around the work involved in creating our Hop Hoy! series.  The demo and talk, starting at 4:30pm sharp, along with the special brewer’s reserve tasting menu, are not to be missed!

Fresh Hops and Plums!

cf2b159119a40cc5b4dde71c3d441d22.jpg

Release of Prunette 2019, our sour plum saison, and creation of Hop Hoy! Citra with fresh Yakima hops. Fresh Hop Barrel Demo 4:30-5:30pm

Thursday September 12 marks two special occasions for us-- the release of our special barrel-aged Prunette plum saison and the beginning of our Hop Hoy! Citra using this year's freshest Citra hops!

Help us celebrate the 2019 fresh hop harvest season with us as we return that afternoon from a voyage to the Yakima Valley with a cargo hold full of fresh Citra hop flowers. For 2019, instead of hot-brewing a traditional fresh hop beer we're concentrating on our unique process of creating a barrel-hopped fresh hop ale.  We'll load extremely fresh hop cones into a set of oak barrels and cold-steep the fresh hop flowers, leaving them to impart flavor and aroma during their long journey toward becoming…Hop Hoy! Citra. We’ll tap some of the last kegs of 2018's Hop Hoy! series to celebrate!

Fresh Hop Barrel Demo 4:30-5:30pm: There will be an introduction and brief discussion on the role of hops in brewing, a discussion on hopping techniques, a live demonstration of cooperage and working with oak barrels of various sizes, and a light-hearted Ceremony of Conveyance as we load the freshly plucked hop cones into the barrels.

Late summer is also the harvest season for delicious local plums, so as an added bonus on this day we will also release our 2018 Prunette barrel aged plum saison on draft -- this is our delicious sour saison base aged 1-year with whole fresh locally grown plums ("Italian Prunes") to extract sweet, tart, oaky, and sour notes from the long re-fermentation and aging in oak.
